It is that feeling you get when you meet a really special person, creative and with a razor-sharp sense of humour. That happened to me almost twelve years ago (gosh, we grow old), in my junior high years, when I met Christopher. For two years or so, we had been sharing the same desk, and for the rest of the years we've been sharing moments; Christopher was born and raised in Greece, studied Architecture and Interior Design, and since then, he works as an interior designer, he is the owner of the most stylish wine bar in town, not to mention his amazing style sense that led him to be a self-taught accessory designer. And that is the tiniest of introductions to my charming friend, who has never failed to amaze me with his restless spirit and his passion for whatever he gets himself into.
Eco-friendly sunglasses, made of wood commenced their route as a fad, but they managed to conquer the fashion conscientious worldwidely. I've been really curious on the process of creating a hand-made pair of sunglasses until I saw Christopher working. It needs and extreme sense of dexterity, craftmanship and balance to create a pair, but he seems to have it all. From the choice of the material and the hand-made wood carving, to the insertion of the 100% UVA-UVB protective lenses the process of creation is an amazing procedure worth taking a deep look at.
The best part is that every pair is 100% custom made, to match your personal needs and preferences. That means you have a say from the type / color of wood, to the color of the glass. In other words, you have a small discussion with Christopher, you choose between the twenty or more different designs offered, you adjust the size to the measurements of your own face, you pick the wood, he creates the pair and in the end all you have to do is pick the lense. On the other way round, if you are really hasty, he has some ready-to-wear pairs in stock, but I personally believe that it is worth the wait. How many times will you ever have the chance to be offered a sur mesure piece of eyewear?
After a massive success in Thessaloniki's latest Pillbox Bazaar, where everybody had the ability to have a look at the real thing, so as to ask Christopher for any further information, CM Wood Sunglasses have their own page on Facebook where you can take a look at the designs, contact the designer or keep in touch with any updates. Prices range from 85 to 100 euros tops, depending on the wood or glass type you may choose, and your unique pair will come right at your door without any shipping costs, specially designed to fit your own style needs.
